My Favorite Home Remedies

From time to time we all can get an upset tummy either from eating food that is too rich for us, food poisoning, overeating or the stomach flu. This article is dedicated to the simple things you have in your pantry at home that can bring you back to health in a very short amount of time.

1. My first go-to remedy is baking soda.  This is a great alkalizer which within minutes balances the pH in your gut. I put about a ¼ teaspoon of aluminum-free baking soda into a ½ cup of water and squeeze some fresh lemon juice which is also alkalizing and stir it all together. Drink it while it’s fizzing.  It tastes really refreshing and you will notice that you will start to belch and the queasiness and uneasiness in your stomach will start to lift and fade.  On occasion, I find that I do have to make a second batch, but one usually does it.

2. My second favorite home remedy believe it or not is clove!  This is an amazing spice that has a very long history of benefiting the digestion system.  Cloves kill parasites and their eggs that you might have picked up from food or water or even from allowing your pets to lick you.  The spice can be ground up and put into veggie caps for easy consumption.

Homeopathic Pain Relief

My third and fourth favorite remedies are homeopathic arsenicum album and Nux vomica for digestive disorders. Match your symptoms to the remedy description below.

3. Arsenicum album is the #1 remedy for food poisoning (esp. bad meat and bad water). Symptoms are nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, restlessness, exhaustion, and chills. The person may be experiencing burning pains in the stomach and they may have a desire to sip small amounts of water frequently. The person may have feelings of being frightened and fear of being alone.

4. Nux vomica helps with symptoms caused by overeating or excessive alcohol intake with symptoms of vomiting, cramping and pain in the stomach. The person’s emotional state may be irritable and angry. They may also have constipation with constant ineffectual urging or alternating diarrhea with constipation.

You can buy homeopathic remedies at a homeopathic pharmacy or online.

Be well,

Elizabeth
